My Mission

I’m on a mission to get veterinary nurses to further their knowledge and develop new skills, so they can help their patients in new ways.

I really believe that us being able to do more practically is key to retaining nurses, improving job satisfaction and enhancing the public’s awareness of our role - and medical patients provide us with so many opportunities to do this!

And that is why I am committed to sharing information on different diseases, as well as the hints and tips I’ve picked up during my time caring for these patients. You can find all of that on the blog, free resource library, and on my Instagram page.

In-House CPD

Does your team want to feel more confident caring for medical patients and get hands-on experience learning new skills? If so, I can help.

I offer a variety of in-house and virtual CPD sessions for veterinary teams, on various topics such as:

  • Medical maths and calculations

  • Placing and managing tubes, lines, drains and catheters

  • Nutrition

  • Blood transfusions

  • Care of patients with different diseases

  • And much more.

Sessions can be tailored to your individual requirements, and include notes and CPD certificates for your team.

The VIMN Webinar Series

Every 6-8 weeks, I host live medical nursing webinars to help you deliver the best possible care to your patients.

You can expect to leave each session:

  • Knowing exactly how the relevant body system works (in an easy, bitesize way - no horrible A&P here!)

  • Understanding how different diseases affect the body and the signs we see in our patients as a result

  • Confident in which tests we perform to diagnose complicated medical conditions, and how to interpret and understand the results

  • Knowing exactly which treatments we commonly use in our medical patients, what they do, and what considerations there are with those treatments

  • Understanding how to plan tailored nursing care that really makes a difference to your patient - considering their specific disease

  • Feeling more confident about caring for your medical patients

  • With a list of new practical skills to start putting into practice (and the knowledge of how to do just that!)

The Medical Nursing Academy

My signature programme, the Medical Nursing Academy, is your one-stop-shop for Medical Nursing CPD.

It combines live workshops and webinars, Q&A and case discussion calls, monthly book club calls and test-yourself quizzes.

It also includes access to the Medical Nursing Community, a discussion forum for Academy members so you can learn and grow in a supportive environment, bounce ideas off of other members, and never feel like you’re studying alone.
